Lent is the name given to the period of 40 days leading up to Easter. Traditionally Christians have used this time as a period  of reflection, recommitment and renewal. The “official” church colour for Lent is purple, which symbolises both royalty (Jesus as King) and repentance.

You’re invited to help commemorate two important dates in the church calendar that mark the start of Lent:

Pancake Tuesday

Brings your friends and family and join us for a tasty pancake supper. Suggested donation: $12 for adults, $5 for children, or pay what you can afford. (Profits support the church’s ministry and missions.)

Tuesday 28 February. 6pm for 6.30. In the church hall.

Then on the following day…

Ash Wednesday

Come to one of our two services of Holy Communion featuring the “imposition of ashes”. During the service we can choose to have the sign of the cross marked on our foreheads with ashes as a sign that we repent of our sins and turn to Jesus and as a reminder that we are mortals who depend on God for life itself.

Wednesday 1 March at 10 am and 6.30pm.

And following the 6.30 pm service…

Lent Bible Study

Every Wednesday from 1 March until Easter.

Revd Bryce will lead a study in the church hall for anyone interested in finding out more about following Jesus by reading about him in God’s word, the Bible.

All welcome. 7.30 to 9pm.
